The Mira Costa boys volleyball team played on Friday, April 12 against rivals Loyola High School and won in five games.
After a lot of back and forth play in the first game, Loyola was able to beat out Costa with a score of 26-24. Costa fell short once again in the second game, losing 25-18. However, Costa came back strong in the third game, winning 25-16 and holding off Loyola’s match win. In the fourth game, Costa fought hard to win 25-22, tying the match 2-2 and pushing it to the fifth and final game. In the last game, Costa quickly took the lead and held Loyola off, finishing off the game with a score of 15-11.
“We didn’t play up to our potential in the first two games,” senior captain Riley Mallon said. “We were able to get our heads in the game for the last three and it proved how much we have grown as a team.”
The boys next game will take place on Tuesday, April 16 at home against Peninsula High School.
