The Mustangs opened the season with a victory on Sept. 14 against Brentwood High School at Mira Costa. The girls tennis team fought hard to start the season 1-0.
The final score of the match was 11-7. Senior Taylor Mahr and sophomore Maegan Manasse combined for six wins in Tuesday match. Mahr went 6-1, 6-2, and 6-1 in her 3 matches and Manasse swept her competition, all three of her matches ending 6-0. Mahr and Manasse were responsible for more then half of the teams total matches won, playing a key role in the Mustangs win on Tuesday.
Senior Laura Derian and sophomore Hanna McGuire led the way for the Mustangs as the top doubles tandem. They fell 4-6 in their opening match but bounced back, winning their following two matches 6-4 and 6-2. Derian and McGuire were able to help their team achieve a very important first victory.
The Mustangs battle it out again September 15, 2010, at 3:00 pm against Palisades High School. The tennis team will look to add another victory to their record.
