The Mira Costa student body elected Kirk La and Sara Chamberlain on April 19 as the 2013-14 Associated Student Body president and vice president, respectively.
Additionally, the Mustangs elected junior Kaela Hornstra as ASB secretary and sophomore Nick Jordan as ASB treasurer, completing the 2013-14 ASB Board.
“I look forward to leading ASB next year,” La said. “I believe ASB can better represent the student body, and I plan to listen to ideas from students and teachers.”
Costa juniors elected Kai Frank as senior class president, Talia Fragner as senior class vice president and Shannon Sieminski as senior class secretary and treasurer.
“My goal is to make senior year memorable for the graduating class,” Frank said.
ASB held run-off elections on April 22 and 23 to determine both the junior class president and vice president for next year.
“We held run-offs because the votes were too close to determine a winner,” Activities Director Lisa Claypoole said.
The current sophomore class elected Kelly Geiser as junior class president and Lindsay Chalmers as junior class vice president in the run-offs. Roxy Vabrey will be the junior class secretary and treasurer.
“The run-offs were stressful, but I’m glad ASB took the time to make sure the elections were fair,” Chalmers said.
The freshman class elected Hanna Watkins as next year’s sophomore class president, Tyler Knudson as sophomore class vice president and Molly Dvorkin as sophomore class secretary and treasurer.
“I want the sophomore class to support the charity, Sponsor A Child, so that we can help children in Africa,” Watkins said.
ASB selected junior Philip Abdoo on April 23 as next year’s Board of Trustees representative, and he will serve on the Manhattan Beach Unified School District Board alongside Chamberlain next year.
“I look forward to representing the voice of the student body,” Abdoo said.
