The Mira Costa baseball team faced Junipero Serra High School in the CIF Division III Championship at Dodger Stadium on May 31. The Mustangs lost 8-1 after seven innings of play.
Senior Kevin Lopez went 1-for-3 with a walk in the top of the fourth inning that started Costa’s rally. Senior Austin Henning went 2-for-3 with two doubles and scored the first and only run for the Mustangs.
“I think we could have played better overall but we never gave up and we were going to fight until the end,” Henning said. “We treated this game like any other and tried to ignore where we were so we could just play our game.”
The Mustangs finish the season in second place in the CIF Division III Championship and first place in Bay League.
