Mira Costa ACT Scores

By: Alex Wyckoff

265 Mira Costa students took the 2013 ACT during the 2012-13 school year, and scored far higher on all parts of the test than the California state average.
Costa students had a far higher benchmark rate than the state average, which means that more Costa students are anticipated to receive a passing mark or higher in the course for which the test subject pertains.
“Costa always performs at a high level,” principal Ben Dale said in an email to Costa staff. “Our students are clearly the best prepared and highest scoring in the state.”
Administration attributes the success of the Costa students in the ACT to the ability of the teachers to teach the students and the ability of the students to learn, as well as the ACT prep courses which are taught at Costa.
“It’s the teachers,” vice principal Jaime Mancilla said. “Our teachers are phenomenal and they teach excellent courses to our students.”
