The Mira Costa varsity girls volleyball team defeated Notre Dame Academy on Sept. 12 at home with a score of 25-9.
Game 1 was a close match, but Costa had the upper hand with a score of 9-8. The score was 11-11 and then Costa hit to make it 18-14, but Notre Dame answered back with a score of 19-18. Costa kept the lead and won the first game 25-20.
In Game 2, Costa came out with a huge 7-2 lead. They were able to maintain their lead and win the game 25-10.
Game 3 Costa started off strong and took a lead of 11-4 and, with the help consecutive kills from junior Skylar Caputo. Costa extended their lead to 22-9 eventually ending up with a win of 25-9, giving the Mustangs a sweep at home.
“We worked on our sets to the outside being faster so that helped our hitters and we really concentrated on our service passing ” coach Lisa Arce-Zimmerman said.
The Mustangs next game will be on Sept. 17, away against Edison. Their next home game will be on Sept. 27 at 5:30 against Los Alamitos.
