The Mira Costa girls volleyball team faced Edison High School on Tuesday night in a non-league match.
In game 1, Costa started off very slow but beat themselves early. It was not long before Costa fought back and stole game 1 with a score of, 25-22.
In game 2 the Mustangs challenged the depth of their line up and put some more people in the rotation. The game was close because of it, but they still kept up with Edison’s strongest line up to pull ahead in the end to win the game, 25-23.
In game 3 Costa still had some of the depth in, but not, as much as game 2. In this game the Mustangs won almost every point. Costa won game 3, 25-14, to have a second sweep in a row.
Senior Lan Nguyen had 9 kills along with 12 digs, sophomore Phinah Leilua had 11 kills and 3 digs, senior Sammy Furlan had 14 digs and 37 assists and senior Brooke Feld with 32 digs.
“ I think any chance you get to work on the depth of your team, it is a benefit. Heading to Vegas this weekend, we are going to need a deep bench to keep us fresh throughout the tourney.” said coach Lisa Zimmerman.
Costa next compete in the Durango tournament in Las Vegas on Saturday and Sunday.
