At Costa, students are always talking about traveling the world. The annual Mira Costa Spain trip, lead by Feliz Shapiro, which has recently decreased in price, allows students to do just that.
The Spain trip is organized by the company ACIS, a company which specializes in planning school trips abroad. As the cost of the trip with ACIS is more expensive than the company that Shapiro previously used to organized the trip, she has worked with the company to lower the price.
“I want to make the Spain trip as affordable for as many people as possible,” Shapiro said. “So, I always try to get the best possible price, and in this case I had to negotiate with ACIS to do that. Also, switching the trip’s date to Ski Week instead of Spring Break helped decrease the price.”
According to Shapiro, the decrease in price does not mean any decrease in quality. She knows this from her experience on the 2013 Spain trip, as that was the first trip that Shapiro took using ACIS.
“Last year’s trip was absolutely amazing,” Shapiro said. “I hadn’t had a good experience with the company that I was previously using for the Spain trip. However, with ACIS our hotels were centrally located, the food was great, and our tour director was very knowledgeable and organized.
According to sophomore Kit Chavers, the decrease in price didn’t influence their decision to go on the trip, but it was an added bonus.
“I decided to go on the Spain trip because I thought it would be a good opportunity to be around Spanish-speaking people a lot more, which would allow me to learn more about the language,” Chavers said.
Shapiro recently announced that students interested in going to the 2015 Spain trip should register soon because students that register before Nov. first receive an additional $300 discount on the cost of the trip.
“We will be having the same amazing tour director that we had last year,” Shapiro said. “I am looking forward to what hopefully will be the same wonderful experience that we last trip.”
