The girls tennis team played Peninsula High School on Tuesday and lost, 13-5.
The Mustangs were defeated all singles matches. Juniors Brooke Swallow and Taylor Klein both lost, 0-6, against Peninsula senior Annika Ringblom. Freshman Amy Gaal lost to Ringblom 3-6. Gaal and Klein lost to Peninsula sophomore Ena Shibahara, 1-6.
“I thought that the game went pretty well, the people I played were really good,” Shibahara said. “I think I was serving well, but they other team had a lot of power so I could not just slack off.”
Doubles team of senior Paula Cenusa with junior Mai Naojima lost two matches, but won their match against freshmen Tia Elpusan and Sarina Liu, 6-2. Doubles team of freshmen Isabella Draskovic with Katarina Draskovic also lost two matches, but defeated Elpusan and Liu.
“Were playing the hardest team,” said Isabella Draskovic. “One of the best in the nation. Our team is good but it is hard to beat Peninsula.”
The team has its next match against Redondo Union High School away on Monday.
