Franck-Love is among the leaders in the Bay League in rushing. In the spring, Franck-Love sprints in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and 4×100-meter relay. Both the University of Utah and the University of Southern California have expressed interest in Franck-Love.
“I want to go Division I for football and maybe track too,” Franck-Love said. “USC is my main choice because they’ve shown more interest.”
Franck-Love had a hard time getting into football as an underclassman. He was unable to join the program until late into his freshman season.
Participating in both varsity football and track can take a toll on an athlete’s body, especially for a starting running back like Franck-Love, but the people who work with him help him stay healthy all season.
“I always had a natural ability along with good coaches,” Franck-Love said. “The athletic trainer Tim Cooper works me out and helps me stay healthy. Without him, I probably wouldn’t be ready for the season.”
Franck-Love had a breakout game against West Torrance with 219 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The game was televised on Fox Sports West Prime Ticket, and Franck-Love won MVP honors on the television show “The Challenge” after the game.
According to Franck-Love, he is focused on team accolades, rather than personal goals. Winning the CIF championship is more important to him than any rushing records or other statistical marks.
“He doesn’t act like it’s all about him,” track coach Moe Russell said. “On top of accomplishing his team goals, he’s trying to accomplish personal goals.”
Franck-Love has his eyes set on one goal for the football season. He wants the Mustangs to go all the way in the CIF playoffs and win the championship.
“Winning CIF is the number-one goal for us right now,” Franck-Love said.
Russell noticed Franck-Love’s speed on the football team and recruited him for the track team.
“Sebastian is an athlete, and it’s always fun to work with him, so it was a no-brainer,” Russell said.
Franck-Love hopes to make it to the NFL, but school is always his first priority.
“If I have the opportunity, I want to go to the NFL, but I want my college degree first,” Franck-Love said. “If the NFL does not work out, then I would like to become a lawyer.”
