The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation held its annual Pledge Day on Thursday to encourage community members to donate to the Manhattan Beach Unified School District.
According to MBEF Director of Business Development Margo Thole, this year they have raised $2.9 million, hoping to reach a total appeal of $5.1 million.
“We hope that all families in the district are able to give any amount of donation to MBEF,” Thole said. “We rely on volunteers to help us inform the community.”
Last year, MBEF donated $5.6 million in grants to MBUSD to fund academic programs such as Music, 21st Century Curriculum, Common Core implementation and Library Media specialists.
“It’s impressive to see MBEF raise so many great funds for our school,” senior Jill Sternthal said.
