Mira Costa boys basketball defeated Santa Monica High School 59-44 in an away non-league game on Jan. 8. The Mustangs now have a 13-2 record overall.
Senior forward Justin Strings led the team with 16 points in the game and sophomore guard Chris Lebbin assisted in the team victory with 12 points with four 3-point shots. The score was tied 17-17 after the first quarter, but the Mustangs rallied to take the lead going into the second half. Junior forward Adam Griese scored nine points and junior Dylan Kim put up eight points for Costa.
“This was an important win for the team as we get closer to league matches,” Kim said. “It felt great to have our team come together and just play our game right to come up with the win.”
The Mustangs next face El Segundo High School away on Jan. 10 at 7pm.
