The boys soccer team lost against West Torrance, 4-2, to start their Bay League season. This loss gives Costa an overall record of 8-6-5.
The Mustangs had a weak start, giving West opportunities on goal. Costa struggled but picked up the pace in the second half scoring two goals, but could not recover. West managed to hold off Costa to win it.
“West had a few great forward attackers but our defense is usually great and we should have stopped them,” Angolini said. “I hate to lose and our entire team should have this mentality. Overall, yesterday was a disappointing performance and hopefully it will serve us good in games to come.”
The Mustangs top performers were junior forward Ricky Angolini and senior midfielder Isaac Lopez giving the Mustangs their only two goals of the game.
“I thought the game went well even though the score does not show it,” Lopez said. “We played strong but our defense made mistakes and we should of had a lot more shots on goal. Our team will adjust and learn from this loss and hopefully get a win next Friday against Redondo.”
The Mustangs’ next game is tomorrow against Redondo Union High School at Redondo at 3 pm.
