The Mira Costa High School baseball team played against Pacifica High School on Tuesday at Costa. The Mustangs lost to the Mariners with a score of 7-2. This loss gives the Mustangs a record of 6-10-0.

Junior pitcher Dylan Tyrer went 2-for-1 and also scored one of the Mustangs two runs in the game. Junior shortstop Robert White went 1-for-3 in the Mustangs loss.

“We did not come out with much energy,” Tyrer said. “Our bats stayed cold until the last inning and it was too late to make a rally then.”

Pacifica started the game strong with two quick runs in the top of the first inning. Tyrer then scored on a pitch in the bottom of the second to make it a one point game. Pacifica answered right back with two runs on the same play in the bottom of the third. Pacifica had three more runs in the bottom of fifth and the Mustangs scored another run but it was not enough to defeat Pacifica.

“We needed to start off good but that did not happen for us,” White said. “We got down very quickly and we just could not come back and we need to work on starting off stronger which will help us in the long run.”

The Mustangs next game will be Wednesday against San Juan Hills at Costa.
