The Mira Costa baseball team fell, 4-1, to San Juan Hills High School on Wednesday at home.
Costa now has an overall record of 6-11-0.
Senior third baseman Cooper Griffith went 3-for-4 with the only run of the game. Senior pitcher Greg Whitaker went 2-for-4 with the only RBI of the game. Junior short stop Robert White also contributed with a hit.
“We did not play very well today,” White said. We needed to end the game a lot stronger because we started fine. If we work on our consistency throughout the game then we will be fine.”
Neither team was able to score in the first inning. San Juan Hills scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning. Costa had a run in the bottom of the third, but San Juan Hills followed with three more, securing the win.
“We did not play as well as we should have,” Griffith said. “We started off alright but they dominated later in the game and we were unable to rally and come back.”
The Mustangs will play again on Saturday away against San Marino High School at 11:00 a.m..
