Scooping up the fun in the form of delicious treats is what Baby G’s is all about.
Baby G’s, a new ice cream shop, opened in Hermosa Beach on April 6 at 243 Pacific Coast Highway. Founded by Georgette and her son Reagan, Baby G’s is a business that promises to be a popular stop among locals.

“I’m a culinary professional,” Georgette said. “I worked for a catering company in Manhattan Beach for 13 years.”

According to Georgette, she gained valuable experience while working for Ripe Choice Catering and uses the skills she learned in the catering industry to prepare and operate Baby G’s.

Georgette balances her passion for the shop with the fun-loving character of a small family-owned business. This is demonstrated through the shop’s name, which was a nickname Georgette’s ex-boyfriend gave to her that has stuck ever since.

“My two sons, they always loved cookies,” Georgette said. “They critiqued the recipes, so they’re my inspiration.”

According to Georgette, cooking is her passion as well as her hobby. Baby G’s allows Georgette to express her creativity through food.

Baby G’s allows customers to choose their own cookies, ice cream fillings and toppings to create a custom ice cream sandwich.

“I liked the concept,” Georgette said. “It’s a build-your-own-thing. I wanted to make it unique.”

Georgette wants to expand her company in the future but keep the family-oriented vibe.

“I’m filling out a franchise packet right now, so I’d like this to become one,” Georgette said.

Costa students are drawn to the local destination after positive reviews in the few weeks it has been open. Treats range from $4 to $6.50.

“I went there because I heard good things about the desserts, and now I’m a regular customer,” sophomore Ryan May said.
