The tentative contract agreement between the Manhattan Beach Unified School District and the Manhattan Beach Unified Teachers Association was officially ratified by both parties at the school board meeting on June 5th.
The tentative agreement reached on May 2nd included a 5 percent salary increase for teachers, four additional mandatory professional development days, and a sub-committee to assess options for health benefits.
“We needed to reach this settlement or it would be even more prolonged so we are very pleased,” MBUTA President Shawn Chen said.
Negotiations will now be sunshined until the 2014-2015 school year.
