After losing the first game of the season to Notre Dame 70-34, Costa bounced back with a win over Downey Vikings, ending the game at 41-38.

Starting the game strong with a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, Downey’s defense began to slow down Costa’s offense and gradually began to make their way back into the game. Despite a couple of turnovers, the Mustangs were able to hold back the Vikings and finish the game strong.

“Overall, we would judge them as playing much better this week than they did in the first game,” Offensive Coordinator Chuck Arrasmith said. “That’s really what we’re trying to do, improve from week to week.”
