This summer, Dr. Karina Gerger was hired by the Manhattan Beach Middle School for the position of Assistant Principal.
Gerger replaced former MBMS Assistant Principal Dr. Toni Brown, who left to take a position as Principal at Pennekamp Elementary.
“When it was announced that I was selected for the position, I was extremely proud,” Gerger said. “I am thrilled to be a part of the MBMS community.”
Prior to holding this position, Gerger worked as the English Language Coordinator for the district. She also has been the Assistant Coordinator of the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Program and a fifth grade teacher at Pacific Elementary.
“The transition from being English Language Coordinator to being the Assistant Principal has been a long one,” said Gerger. “All of these positions prepared me in many ways for the role of Assistant Principal.”
According to MBMS Principal John Jackson, Gerger was hired due to her work ethic and her ability to adjust to new positions.
“She is a quick study and has already picked up many of the nuances of the middle school,” Jackson said. “We look forward to seeing her grow in this position and some day become the principal of her own school like Ms. Linz and Dr. Brown.”
Gerger aims to support Mr. Jackson in guiding students and faculty.
“I want to make all decisions based on what is best for students,” Gerger said.
