On Sept 20, Costa’s boys cross country achieved many personal records with Varsity placing top 10 against multiple teams, including Redondo Union.

Costa’s varsity consisted of seniors Chance Weston, Brandon Shirazi and Bram Osterhout, juniors Ty Garrett and Ethan Williams, sophomore Caleb Llorin, and freshman Xavier Court. They placed eighth out of thirty teams in a rated race. Only athletes with a certain time can participate. Everyone achieves an individual time however, team placement is determined by adding up all the times of the team’s top five runners.

Though Redondo beat Costa with sixth place, Costa’s spread was significantly better. The spread is determined by the distance of time between the slowest and fastest runner on the team. Costa’s spread was 0:15 seconds and Redondo’s 1:12.

The next cross country meet is Tuesday Sept 23 at Polliwog against all schools in the Bay League.
