The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce held its second annual Best of Manhattan Awards Oct. 2 at the Manhattan Beach Country Club.
The chamber presented awards to businesses that have a major presence in Manhattan Beach, have shown remarkable profitability and excel in service quality.The Best of Manhattan Beach Awards featured nine different award categories: Best of Manhattan; Bob Meistrell Local Legends; Environmental Conscious Organization; Home Sweet Home; Shop Manhattan Beach; Small and Mighty; Affair to Remember; Pay it Forward and Top Chef Manhattan Beach.
“Being a part of the nominating committee was not an easy task,” Best of Manhattan Awards Chairsperson Jill Brunkhardt said. “We live in a dynamic community with incredible contributors, making it an ideal place to live, thrive and do business.”
The public nominated businesses online, and judges, picked by the Chamber of Commerce, then voted to decide the winners.
“It is a nice thing to do for the community, and it’s good to give feedback to the independent businesses to let them know how they are doing,” Best of Manhattan Beach voter Craig Bunn said.
Pages bookstore won the category “Shop MB,” which recognizes the most outstanding retail sales business.
“We worked hard to make this store happen, and it was such an incredible feeling to know we won,” co-owner of Pages Margot Farris said.
Owner/chefDavid LeFerve of Manhattan Beach Post and Fishing with Dynamite received the “Top Chef MB” award.
“The crew I work with helps make this an incredible community,” LeFerve said. “It’s an honor to serve Manhattan Beach.”
