The Mira Costa Drama Department is currently rehearsing its fall play, “The Matchmaker.”
The play is about a love story set in the 1880s in Yonkers, New York. Seniors Julia McDermott and Kavon Tiegs play the lead roles Dolly Levi and Horace Vandergelder, respectively.
“I am excited to have a lead role in ‘The Matchmaker’ because during the last performance, I was in the ensemble,” Tiegs said. “We have been working hard, and I think the play is coming together nicely.”
Cast members began rehearsing for the play in mid-September, practicing everyday for two and a half hours. The practices include rehearsing lines and perfecting stage directions.
The play will run on Nov. 8, 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and on Nov. 12 and 13 at 6:30 p.m. The matinee will be on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. in the auditorium.
“The play is a lot of work, but I am up for the challenge and excited for everyone to see the show,” McDermott said.
