The Mira Costa girls golf team played against Palos Verdes on Oct. 14 at Chester Washington golf course.
The Mustangs struggled throughout the match, but the girls managed to pull off a win against the Sea Kings with a score of 201-216. This win gives the Mustangs a 9-0 record.
Sophomore Ashley Kim shot a 37 overall to contribute to the Mustangs’ win. Junior Marni Murez shot a 38 with one birdie. The Mustangs were coming off of a big win against Peninsula High School. The Mustangs came in a little sloppy after a little time off.
“We definitely did not play our best in our game,” Murez said. “But because we have so much depth as a team, we are able to defeat any other team in our league even if we do not play to our full potential.”
The Mustangs came into the game with very positive expectations.
“We felt pretty confident going into today’s match against Palos Verdes,” Kim said. “We have beaten them before in the past and I did not feel like we were going to have much trouble playing them again today.”
Golf played Palos Verdes again on Thursday at Palos Verdes Country Club, but scores were unavailable due to time of publication.
“Whenever one of us has a bad day, the other three always make up for it,” junior Danielle Richman said. “If we fix our flaws, then we’ll come out and beat them by a bigger margin. We beat them even though we didn’t play our best golf. We have won every match by a considerable amount of strokes and I think this will only continue.”
