The Mira Costa dance team will hold its annual Lip Sync competition on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium to raise money for its dance competition fees, costumes and other utilities throughout the season.
Clubs, sports, individuals, teachers and other groups at Costa can perform in Lip Sync and will have the chance to showcase their choreogaphed performances to a live audience.
“This is a great way to bring all of the different groups on campus together in a fun and entertaining competition,” senior dance team captain Quinn Gardner said.
According to dance team coach Victoria Brown, the judges will rank the groups based on their knowledge of their chosen song, how well their lip syncing matches the words, the choreography and overall enthusiasm. The first-place group will receive a prize of $150, and special awards will be given to the group with the best costumes, the best solo or duet, and the best organization.
“It is important that we see the effort that groups put into their skits,” Brown said. “We want to see that each group is having fun performing and that they have a well-choreographed dance.”
Tickets will be sold for $4 in advance and $5 at the door.
