The Mira Costa wrestling team traveled to Peninsula on Wednesday, and defeated San Pedro and Torrance High School but fell short against Warren High School.
Senior wrestler Michael Cervantes came out on top with two pins against his first two opponents. Cervantes fell short, 8-7, against Warren High School but remains optimistic about the rest of the season.
“The team wrestled hard today,” Cervantes said. “We easily defeated San Pedro and Torrance, but Warren exposed our weaknesses in the match.”
Costa’s next match is at Torrance High School tomorrow. The Mustangs hope to improve their record to 3-1 against Torrance.
“It was a great way to start out the season, and I hope we can continue to improve in the future,” senior Bobby Gerami said.
