After placing second in the California Interscholastic Federation tournament, the girls golf team’s season came to a close on Oct. 29.
In CIF, girls golf competed in both individual and team competitions. Junior Marni Murez was the sole player who shot low enough in CIF to qualify for state qualifiers, but she was unable to advance. In team CIF, Costa was unable to defeat Diamond Bar, causing them to place second.
“We did pretty well considering how good the first-place team was,” Murez said. “We knew we were going to be fighting for second.”
The Mustangs played their rivals Redondo Union High School two times this year. They dominated both times, getting solid performances from Murez, junior Danielle Richman, and sophomore Ashley Kim.
“I am proud of the way the girls played,” Richman said. “I am glad that I could contribute to our wins over Redondo and hope we can continue these dominating wins for years to come.”
The Mustangs finished their 2014 Bay League season undefeated, winning 12 total matches.
“The season was very successful for the girls,” coach Tom Cox said. “I am very proud of the way the girls competed this year.”
