This money funnel of a bar is quickly flooded with police after an under the table robbery is reported. The film travels between past and present to discover things about the bar and find the criminals.
Bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy), the main character, is the man in the middle of all the money transactions. Marv (James Gandolfini), Bob’s employer and heavy handed cousin pushes the money scheme and pressures Bob into doing unlawful things.

Hardy is a stern but mellow bartender who knows how to keep his mouth shut but makes sure he is taken care of first as well. Hardy does a phenomenal job with his New York accent and also delivers his lines clearly and emotionally.
Hardy is captivating and intriguing due to his characters situation and how he is an innocent bartender yet a gang affiliated criminal at the same time. It is easy for the audience to want to see Hardy become the hero and be able to walk away from the situation. The on screen relationship he builds with his audience is a key component to his success in this film.
