On Friday, Dec 12, the Mira Costa Rugby Team was down two players and at a disadvantage over the Dana Hills High School team. The Mustangs were down hooker Juwan Johnson and Inside Center Justus Tavai on Friday’s game, influencing the game before it even began.
The ruggers lost the game even after scoring a 15 meter and 20 meter try and being down two of the most influential players to their team. Johnson was not able to play Friday because he was in San Francisco for a Model United Nations speech, and Tavai has been out injured since the first game.
“Jonah Tavai is becoming a major presence on the field, and I have had the pleasure of coaching him for the past five years at the Los Angeles Rugby Club, and I’m not surprised he has had such an impact on our team with his older brother injured and Johnson in San Francisco.
