On Dec. 10, the Mustangs’ girls soccer team, ranked second in division two, played South Torrance, ranked second in division three.
South took the lead early, as Kalyn Kaemerle threaded through Costa’s defense and kicked the ball just out of reach of senior goalie Nonie Frishette. From there, South proceeded to control all parts of the game, pushing the ball on offense and taking away Costa’s offensive possessions with tight defense.
Adding another goal, Torrance held a 2-0 lead through the second half. Finally, the Mustangs were able to put one in, but Kaemerle answered right back for Torrance to maintain a two-goal lead at 3-1.
From there, Costa was unable to mount a comeback, losing the game 3-1 and bringing their record to 2-1-2.
