The Mustangs faced off against the Palos Verdes Sea Kings in their first Bay League game of the season on Tuesday, losing 1-0.
Palos Verdes started off strong and were able to score an early goal after a Sea Kings forward crossed the ball around a Costa defender, then to his teammate who took the shot. The Sea Kings were able to keep their early lead and had two more close chances to score, however they went wide. Costa struggled to get organized and were unable to put anything in the back of the net.
“Palos Verdes just came out stronger than we did.” junior defender Anand Sarathy said, “By the time we picked up our game, it was too late to capitalize on anything.”
Boys soccer will play in their second Bay League game against Peninsula away on Friday.
