Costa artists are used to being in the spotlight, appreciated by a responsive audience at In-House Arts. However, In-House Arts artists have taken a step out of the limelight to record an original In-House Arts album.

In-House Arts is a traveling showcase of musicians, poets and artists. The event takes place at a new house each month featuring new performances. While known for their live shows, In-House Arts managers juniors Will Riordan and Miriam Sachs have decided to record an original album.

“We want people to listen to the tracks and be inspired to go to our events,” Riordan said. “It is also a concrete representation of what you can expect at In-House.”

Junior Ben La Duke has recorded performances of In-House Arts artists to publish on the SoundCloud “In-House Arts” page. La Duke is now in charge of recording the entire album.

“I’ve had guidance from former Costa student Tony Nguyen, the founder of In-House Arts, who has given me some tips,” La Duke said.

At live In-House Arts shows, performers can play any type of music they like. Due to copyright matters, the album only features original songs written by the artists.

“It’s fun to hear something unique written by your friend,” In-House performer sophomore Shelby Strickfaden said.

While the recording process is still in action, Riordan hopes to complete the album by March. The profits made from the album sales will be used for new equipment for live In-House Arts events.

“With the money, we can assure that future events will run smoothly, and we will be able to make the In-House experience better for the audience by expanding the opportunities for the event,” Riordan said.
