Indoor Drumline combines elements of music performance, marching and choreography. The team is made up of marching band members, percussionists and wind and brass players who play as part of a musical marching ensemble.

“As we grow and expand our own Indoor Drumline program at Costa, it is our hope to become more inclusive to students,” Miller said.

The indoor drumline will compete for the Southern California Percussion Alliance on Saturday against over 150 competing drumlines from Southern California alone. At the competition, the group will perform its six-minute show. The highest-ranked groups will then go on to compete at the world championship in Dayton, Ohio.
“This is a great opportunity to show what we have learned so far and how much the program has improved me as a performer already,” sophomore Aiden Anderson said.

This year, Miller has composed a show piece called “From The Beginning” for the group to perform.

“The music is about starting something new,” Miller said. “I composed the music to have a contemporary sound, and I threw in some famous recognizable music.”
