The hunter becomes the hunted as one plays the role of both predator and prey in Turtle Rock Studios’ new game, “Evolve.”
“Evolve” proves to be an incredible game that has practically created its own genre. It contains cutting-edge graphics and a cat-and-mouse type gameplay with varying roles, allowing for tons of replayability and entertainment.
“Evolve” is based in a futuristic world called Shear, a world that has recently been under attacks from monsters that have randomly begun to spring up all over the planet. In the game, the player must decide whether he will play as the predator or the prey and decide whether he will fight to destroy or protect the planet of Shear.
The best part of “Evolve” is the unique play style. Its distinct hunt-or-be-hunted gameplay is both original and well done. The gameplay allows players to stay engaged by giving them the thrill and the excitement of either being on the run or close to catching your prey. This enjoyable mode makes the game unlike anything else on the market and extremely entertaining.
Although there are only two game modes from which to choose in “Evolve,” they both offer completely different experiences and are madly addictive. Hunt mode is a one-round hunt in which the hunters must find and kill the monster before it can evolve and begin to hunt them.
This game mode is appealing because although it is simple, it allows the player to compete in short, yet action-packed games multiple times in a row.
The other game mode is Evacuation, a campaign-like mode that allows the player to play in five successive games in which each game’s outcome benefits the winner.
This game mode is fascinating because it allows the player to interact more with the story, rather than simply playing in short sessions with an underdeveloped background. The versatility of both these game modes remains one of the game’s strongest aspects and sets it apart from other modern action games.
“Evolve” is a uniquely designed game that successfully features diverse and intense gameplay, making it truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
“Evolve” is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC for $59.99 and is rated M for mature.
