From crew to soccer, students come together on National Collegiate Athletic Association signing day to commit as college athletes.

Megan Carver
Carver committed to play soccer as a center midfielder for the next four years at New York University, a Division III athletic program.
“NYU really has it all, which is why I thought it would be the perfect balance for me between both great academics and intense athletics,” Carver said. “I am super excited and ready to get out and develop my soccer game.”

Nonie Frishette
Frishette signed to play soccer for Wake Forest University in North Carolina as a goalkeeper.
“It feels amazing to know that I will have the opportunity to continue playing the sport I’ve dedicated my whole life to at such a high level of intensity,” Frishette said. “When I get to Wake, my focus will be training hard to be the best player I can be.”

McKenna Doyle
Following four years as a starting varsity player for Costa, Doyle committed to play Divison I soccer at Boston University beginning this fall. Doyle loved Boston University after her first visit.
“I’ve always loved soccer, and I was lucky to have a serious atmosphere where I could train hard enough with the dream to one day compete at the college level,” Doyle said.

Taylor Klein
Klein signed and committed to the University of California at Santa Barbara for tennis.
“Since middle school, playing tennis at UCSB has been my dream,” Klein said. “The girls are nice, and the coach is very motivating. I‘ve always wanted to play Division 1, and the fact that I get to do so at an amazing school like UCSB is awesome.”

Katrina Kernochan
Kernochan will leave the indoor volleyball courts for the sand as she committed to play sand volleyball for the University of Southern California. USC offered Kernochan a spot during her second campus visit.
“I wanted to stay in California for college because we have the best sand teams right now, and once I visited USC, I was in love,” Kernochan said.

Molly Gerber
Gerber committed to row crew at the University of Washington in Seattle, where Gerber plans to spend the next four years as a coxswain for the men’s crew team, which is currently number one in the nation. Gerber has been an active rower at the Marina Aquatic Center in Marina del Rey for five years.
“I am so excited to continue my passion as a Husky,” Gerber said.

Evan Han
Han committed to play tennis at Swarthmore College, but Han had shoulder surgery in September and will be unable to play for most of his last season at Costa. Because Swarthmore is a Division III school, Han’s recruitment is not affected by his injury.
“This is going to be a great experience for me,” Han said. “I’ll be able to meet people who want to get better and win as much as I do.”

Kelly Geiser
Geiser committed to play sand volleyball for University of California at Los Angeles. UCLA contacted Geiser toward the end of her junior year and offered her a spot in July.
“I wanted to make sure that I was making the right decision, and I soon realized that UCLA is the perfect school for me,” Geiser said. “I am so excited for the next four years to compete as a Bruin.”

Sam Sestanovich
Sestanovich committed to Emory University to play indoor volleyball. Sestanovich played volleyball all four years at Mira Costa as an outside hitter.
“I chose to go to Emory because it’s main focus is academics,” Sestanovich said. “Emory is also a Division III school, which allows me to balance volleyball and academics. Being a college athlete makes me feel proud of all the work I’ve put in.”

Max Steinmetz
Steinmetz is preparing to play Division I soccer this upcoming fall at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.
“My entire life has been centered around soccer, so it means a lot to me that all of my hard work and sacrifices have finally paid off in the best way possible,” Steinmetz said. “I’m excited to become a part of the Battlin Bear family and help them win a national championship.”
