In the CIF championship, the Mustangs(24-6) battle cross town rival Redondo Beach Seahawks(23-6) at Azusa Pacific at 5:30.
After the last game against each other, the Mustangs fell at Redondo, 40-39. However the previous game against the Seahawks at Costa, the Mustangs came on top 42-36. This CIF championship will be the tie breaker for these rivals.
“Last time we faced them, their bigs bullied us down low,” Coach John Lapham said. “We struggled boxing out them out.”
After losing last time against them because of Redondo’s transition offense, Coach John Lapham hopes on changing this by getting back on defense. Lapham also focused on making sure the girls move their feet to get them out of foul trouble.
“We need to make sure open threes, while denying the post,” Sophomore Allie Naverette said. “We also need to run all offensive plays effectively and get back on defense.”
