“Unfinished Business” succumbs to its title, as it feels “unfinished” and fails to impress as a comedic film.

“Unfinished Business” is a total disaster with an unoriginal plot, witless jokes and under-developed characters.

The film follows the life of Dan Truckman (Vince Vaughn) after he quits his job and starts his own company. His new business partners, Timothy McWinters (Tom Wilkinson) and Mike Pancake (Dave Franco), accompany him on a business trip to Berlin, Germany where they resort to insane measures to close an important deal.

The infamous Vaughn and hilarious Franco should be a match made in heaven, but even the movie’s quality cast cannot save it from boredom. The cast is deceiving because despite these talented actors, the movie is so absolutely hopeless and awfully assembled that they fail at making it any funnier.

Another flaw of the movie is that the characters are superficial and lack depth. Their actions are unrealistic and hard to connect to because none of them develop throughout the movie. The character of McWinters should not be in the movie at all, as he offers no humor to the movie due to his boring personality.

Furthermore, most of the humor in “Unfinished Business” is either over-sexualized or flat-out immature. For example, the movie constantly points out that Mike’s last name is “Pancake,” an elementary joke that does not appeal to the adult audience that the movie is intended to please.

Additionally, the overall plot is mundane and predictable. It is based around an unoriginal plot of a classic vacation that goes awry. It is obvious that the business deal is going to work out from the very beginning of the film, making it hard to stay engaged for its entirety.

The movie also awkwardly switches off between the business trip, which is full of sex scenes and drugs, and Dan’s wife and kids at home. The plot tries to incorporate how Dan is dealing with his bullied son and troubled daughter but focuses more on irrelevant jokes and profanity than what could have been a heart-warming story.

“Unfinished Business” is simply a disaster. It is overflowing with embarrasing attempts at humor, leaving a film that is not worthy of anyone’s time.

“Unfinished Business” is rated R and playing in theaters nationwide.
