The Mira Costa Mustangs water polo team competed in the AFC Invitational Tournament in San Diego on Sept. 24 and 25 and placed 13 out of 32 teams. The Mustangs compiled a record of 3-2 in the tournament, bringing their record to 4-3 overall.
Senior Jake Miller was a stand-out player for Costa. Miller was never held without a goal in a game in the tournament; he scored in all five games and in four games, multiple times. Overall, he scored 17 goals for Mira Costa.
Mira Costa’s next few water polo matches will be at home Oct.1 and 2 when the Mustangs will host a day-long tournament with many teams from around the South Bay. They hope to come out strong in their second tournament of the season.
