He will find you, and he will kill you.
Jaume Collet-Serra’s “Run All Night” features a fluid script, developed plot, and emotional and genuine acting coupled with suspenseful action and special effects.
Mobster and hit man Jimmy Conlon (Liam Neeson), finds himself stuck in a situation to choose between killing his best friends son, Danny Maguire (Boyd Holbrook), or saving his son, Mike Conlon (Joel Kinnaman).
Having his fatherly instinct kick in, he kills Danny saving his only son Mike. His boss and best friend, Shawn Maguire (Ed Harris), goes out of his way to kill every happy aspect of life that Jimmy has left. In a struggle to keep his son out of trouble as well as keeping him alive, Jimmy does what he has to.
Neeson started his career as a sweet and kind actor, but with his deep toned voice and broad body build was soon taken into a new path towards crime. Famous for his film “Taken”, Neeson out does himself once again. His intimidating factor and echoing voice makes him seem invincible.
Collet does a stunning job at creating new factors of action. Many films have tried to create a solid car chase, and this film nails it. Collet does an amazing job of having cars crashing and flying everywhere, dodging and swerving through the traffic, leaving the audience wanting more.
The emotion given through the script keeps the film going. Instead of just having tons of deaths and fights, the constant phone calls and conversations keeps it interesting. The use of certain characters voices, like Neeson, gave a certain tone which helped progress the plot.
The suspense factor in this film is what makes it so appealing to the audience. Through many hit men and guards, to the whole CIA and police on Neeson’s tail, every step he makes takes him into a new danger and leaves the viewers unable to know what will happen.
Overall “Run All Night” has no flaws, and captures every aspect of a solid film. The directing, acting, and special effects come together to put together a must watch movie.
“Run All Night” is rated R and is playing in theaters nationwide.
