Costa department chairs voted at an Ed Council meeting on Tuesday for the Common Core testing schedule, as Common Core testing will take place on May 14-21 for all juniors.
During Common Core testing, juniors will be tested in three groups from 8:00 am to 12:40 pm. While one group is being tested, the remaining juniors will attend their regular classes. Freshman, sophomore and seniors will presume their schedule as usual.
“One of the major reasons this schedule for Common Core was selected was because it was the least disruptive to the majority of the student body,” Vice Principal Marianne Ramos said.
At a previous Ed Council meeting, Ramos presented three Common Core schedule proposals for Common Core testing to Ed Council. The two options that were not selected included a double late start day for all grades levels except for juniors, or an early release so juniors had time to go to the classes they missed for the day and receive their homework.
“I believe that the schedule that chosen was the best option for Costa as a whole,” Ramos said.
