The Mira Costa Varsity swim team competed against Peninsula High school at home on Thursday, April 16 in the first match of Bay league. The boys lost the swim meet 106-64 and the girls lost 112-58.

Junior 200 yard freestyle swimmer Ian Campbell won his event with a time of 1:48.60. He was also part of the 200 Yard Medley Relay, along with Andrew White, Ed Jeon, and Mark Warnecke who won with a time of 1:44.52. The boys relay team has proven their dominance, but the team does not consistently win in all 62 events.

“We are not as strong this year as we had hoped to be, but each and every person is working extremely hard every morning to prepare for our meets,” junior Ian Campbell said. “Our relay teams are strong and we work really well together.”

The team will swim against Palos Verdes on April 23 at home in their second meet of Bay league.
