The Samburu Project, a project which provides funds for drilling in the Samburu province of Africa, hosted its annual Walk-for-Water on April 19 at the Hermosa Beach pier.

The Samburu Project in the region has drilled over 73 wells since its founding to provide for more sources of clean water.

“The support we have been getting is unbelievable,” founder and executive director of the Samburu Project Kristen Kosinski said.

Co-Presidents seniors Natasha Brunstein, Sophie Haas-Goldberg, and Jamie Kelleher started a club at Costa in 2011 to raise awareness and funds for this project.

“The amount of effort the employees have put in is incalculable,” Brunstein said.

The four-mile walk looped between the Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach piers and ended at American Junkie Restaurant, where a pancake breakfast and raffle was held. The walk raised about $41,500.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the local community to get involved and contribute to a worthy cause,” Kosinski said.
