Madeon’s debut album takes listeners on a fun “Adventure” into the EDM world. The album is unforgettable and upbeat to get the listener to dance and sing along to the quality lyrics from the talented featured artists.
“Adventure” is a piece of art and lives up to its title. Each song is crafted perfectly and shows how much hard work was put into this album and then put into order where each song flows smoothly to the next.
Twenty year old, Hugo Pierre Leclercq, from Nantes, France started composing music when he was 11. He called himself “Deamon” until changing his nickname to Madeon in 2010. Also in 2010, he won a remix competition for “The Island” by Pendulum.
Madeon became internationally famous after his mash-up, “Pop Culture,” got over six million views in a few days in 2011. In 2012, he played Ultra, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and the Electric Daisy Carnival. He released an EP called “The City” in 2012, then released the “Japan Only EP” the following year.
Madeon joins his beat with Passion Pit on “Pay No Mind” to create a fun, catchy song to sing and dance to. The song is very pop and makes the album feel more like going on an adventure. It’s the perfect tune for summer nights and music festivals and Madeon really outdoes himself with this track.
“Imperium” starts off with a blaring bass to get the listeners attention. It’s powerful beat is tailor made for concerts with great bass drops like in “Home”. The heavy bass drop makes the song smooth along with his sincere vocals, which are rarely heard.
Featured artist, Kyan, brings his strong pop/R&B vocals to “You’re On”. His melodic voice merges harmoniously with the uplifting background bass. His vocals make the chorus feel familiar and relaxed while also keeping the song upbeat and lively.
“La Lune,” featuring Dan Smith of Bastille, has the most meaningful and heartfelt lyrics of “Adventure.” Dan sings softly while remaining strong to carry the song and shows that Madeon is more than just a good beat.
“Ok” is one of the more electronic tracks that features unique background vocals from Charli XCX and on top of that, a video game sounding beat to go along with it. Aside from the repetitiveness of the track, its a great song for a club.
“Nonsense” featuring Mark Foster has the beat best for concerts. With clapping in the background, the song is automatically catchier and the song is very pop and well-made for the radio. Madeon established himself as more of a multi-genre artist as opposed to electronic through this song.
“Adventure” came out on March 27 and is available digitally and in retail for $9.99 and $13.99 for deluxe.
