Mira Costa’s hockey team won, 4-2, against South Torrance on Friday at the Toyota Sports Center, continuing their now 4-game winning streak. Top performers were senior forward Ryan Miller, junior forward Austin Bowkus, senior forward Nate Schickler, and freshman forward Ty Dillman.

During the first period, South Torrance scored and Miller scored short handed for Costa. South Torrance scored again and Costa twice, leaving South Torrance down by one. During the third period, Dillman scored, ending the game with the Mustangs beating South Torrance 4-2, their overall record now 4-0.

“We struggled in the opening period,” junior forward Wyatt Light said. “However, we improved as the game went along. We need to continue working on getting shots on net so we can increase our scoring chances.”

The next game is May 1 against Palos Verdes at 5:15 at the Toyota Sports Center. Costa has already played them and won 10-8. Their overall record is 3-2 and their top player is Justin Campbell.

“We played well against South Torrance,” Dillman said. “It was probably our best game of the season. For future games, we need to improve on working as a team and taking more shots.”
