On Wednesday the boys lacrosse team took on Redondo in a home game. The final score was 9 to 8 with Costa taking the win. This was the second to last Bay League game and determined whether or not they would move on to compete in California Interscholastic Federation.
The boys’ defense held strong the entire game with the “zone” play they ran. They shut down Redondo’s offense quickly and gained possession of the ball, which then allowed them to create an attack. Junior goalie John Vansickle led the defense with thirteen saves.
“I am so excited that we pulled it together last night to qualify for CIF,” Vansickle said. “All of our losses were tough this season but we learned from our mistakes and pulled it together against Redondo.”
Their next game is on Friday against Palos Verdes at home. They are expected to lose badly against Palos Verdes, last time they competed against them they lost 11 to 2 in a hard fought match.
“Now that we are qualified for CIF we are just going to fight our hardest on Friday,” Vansickle said. “I hope we can pull it together for CIF like we did against Redondo.”
