The Mira Costa boys tennis team took on Peninsula High School on Thursday in a home match. The Mustangs ended up losing the match 10-8 giving them a record of 12-6. This moves their Bay League record to 8-2 overall.
Junior Alex Gaal won both of his sets, winning with game scores of 7-6 and 6-4. Juniors Blake and Tanner Suard won both of their two 6-2 and 7-6. Senior Evan Han and Junior Jeremy Chung won all three of their games, 7-5, 6-3, and 7-6.
“We played well today even though we lost the match,” Tanner Suard said. “I wish that we could have contributed more to try and help the team win but I am proud with our overall performance.”
The Mustangs’ next match will be played against Redondo Union High School on Monday at 3 p.m. at Redondo. The Mustangs have played Redondo before and ended with a victory.
“We have seen Redondo plenty of times before and know what they are capable of,” coach Joe Ciasulli said. “We expect a win and hope to improve our record going into CIF.”
