In eighth Bay League game of the year, the freshman-sophomore Mustang team battled the varsity Morningside Monarchs, 3-0. After letting the junior varsity play the last Bay League game, the coaches decided to take it a step further and let the frosh-soph team play so that they earn varsity level experience.

The Mustangs dominated the first game, winning 25-16. They continue their fast pace, winning the second game 25-14. In the last game, they won 25-16. Freshman middle Paul Matt and freshman outside Adam Kim had a combined total of 15 kills.

“It’s great to be able to come out and represent the varsity team,” Kim said. “We played a solid game and we executed well on offense.”

The Mustangs’ 8-0 are in Bay League and their next game will be on Tuesday at home, against Redondo. Having already beat the Redondo (4-3) earlier in the season, 3-0, Costa hopes to swept the SeaHawks again.

“We swept them earlier in the seasons with relative ease,” junior opposite Jackson Wedbush. “We need to make sure to play together and focus on defense.”
