Mustangs football falls to Chaminade

The Mira Costa Mustangs football team fell to the Chaminade Preparatory Eagles, 29-10, Oct. 1 in a game decided in the second half.

The game started off slowly, but the Mustangs took the lead in the second quarter with a 43-yard field goal by senior Brendan Sofen.  This was the only Mustang lead of the game. The Eagles took advantage of the frequent Mustang turnovers.

The Mustangs threw three interceptions, which gave the Eagles an advantage. Mira Costa tried to even the score late in the fourth quarter with a touchdown from Dennis Falcone to Derek Largent.  It was too little, too late for the Mustangs, however.

Mira Costa looks for their second win of the season Oct. 8 at home versus Newport Harbor, which will be this year’s Homecoming game.
