After going undefeated for eight games, Mira Costa’s hockey team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday against Redondo, with a final score of 5-4.
Senior Christian Rogers, junior Wyatt Light, and freshman Ty Dillman scored during the first two periods of the game, then followed by four goals from Redondo. In the third period, Redondo scored again, however Costa could not come back, falling one point short.
“We played well overall, minus the mental lapses that costed us the lead,” Light said. “It was a high paced game and we should have no shame into losing to a high caliber team.”
With an overall record of 7-1-1, Costa takes on El Segundo (4-3) next Tuesday. The Mustangs previously defeated the Eagles 6-5 on May 3.
“We have already played and beat El Segundo so we can win again,” freshman Malcom Bohan said. “As a team we will push harder and go into the playoffs with momentum.”
