An inviting social environment and delicious food, coupled with a beautiful interior and exterior design, places David Lefevre’s The Arthur J far above any other steakhouse in Downtown Manhattan Beach.
The Arthur J pleases with delicious food and an elegant ambiance. Despite its limited parking, small area for seating and pricey menu, the sensational meals and welcoming environment make up for these few shortcomings.
Head chef, David LeFevre, has had much success with his other two hit restaurants in Manhattan Beach, Fishing With Dynamite and Manhattan Beach Post. This experience is evident throughout the new restaurant through its beautifully designed wooden interior that utilizes wooden tables and steak knives to create a rustic feeling like that of a traditional steakhouse.
LeFevre is well known for his medium rare meats as well as elaborately designed meals, like his medium done Skuna Bay Salmon topped with a heart of palm puree, shishito pepper, and yuzu kosho butter. The Arthur J serves high-end meats ranging from a 12 oz Filet Mignon to a 16 oz Ribeye. They also serve seafood anywhere from freshly caught Atlantic Salmon to a 2 lb Lobster, boasting diversity in their menu.
Additionally, the wide variety of meats the restaurant features ensures a wider variety of meal combinations. All of their meats are also customizeable to the preference of each individual customer, assuring that even the most diverse of crowds will be satisfied with their choice.
The steakhouse’s exterior has a striking modern design with stylish wooden panels. Once seated, costumers can appreciate the rustic interior accentuated by hand carved knives and tables with dangling marble lights, making the overall experience luxurious and inviting.
Although The Arthur J does give costumers a “bang for their buck” with appetizing food, the restaurant does serve highly overpriced meals. In spite of the delicious food, a four person family bill will be around 200 dollars, which is expensive for many Manhattan Beach families, prompting some to seek out less expensive choices in Downtown Manhattan Beach.
Despite the fact that The Arthur J has delectable food and a charming environment, its location is very inconvenient. Limited parking spaces in the highly trafficked Downtown area can be problematic, deterring possible Arthur J patrons.
Overall The Arthur J is a must go-to modern steakhouse. Besides its expensive prices and crammed parking, the restaurant’s friendly environment, savory food, and contemporary design come together to make The Arthur J a huge success.
The Arthur J opened its doors on June 2nd and is located in downtown Manhattan Beach at 903 Manhattan Ave. The restaurant is open from 5pm-10:30pm seven days a week.
