Boys tennis took on San Marino High School in the second round of California Interscholastic Federation competition on May 17. The Mustangs lost after winning four out of 18 sets, eliminating them from CIF playoffs.
Junior Alex Gaal won two of his singles matches, 6-4 and 6-1. Juniors Tanner and Blake Suard also won one of their doubles matches, 6-1, and doubles players junior Jeremy Chung and senior Evan Han won a set, 6-4.
“They were a good team,” Tanner Suard said, “I think if we played them again, the game would be closer than it was today.”
The Mustangs went 12-4 overall in their season and 7-1 in Bay League. Even though the team lost in CIF players, Chung and Fortier were able move on to the CIF State tournament.
“A second-round loss in CIF is pretty disappointing,” Gaal said, “Hopefully, we will perform better next year.”
